"Leadership Development in a Comprehensive Academic Health Science Center: A 4-Pronged Approach to Building Leadership Capacity"

Description: The Quillen College of Medicine approved a strategic plan in August 2022. One of the adopted strategic objectives included building depth to enhance the college’s educational, research, and clinical enterprises by expanding and supporting faculty, staff, and learners through recruitment and retention, professional development, collaboration, and mentorship. One of the major initiatives associated with this objective was the development and adoption of a 4-pronged leadership development strategy. The strategy includes development at all levels of the organization – new faculty, emerging leaders, and executive leaders. The first of these leadership initiatives launched in April 2023 with 30 participants. In this webinar, we will discuss the details of the broad initiative and the success of the early implementation of the plan. Participants in the webinar will gain tools to plan their own leadership development initiatives.

Presenter:

  • Dr. Amy Johnson, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University
