NACADA/ACHE Webinar: Exploring Student Veterans' Perceptions of their Strengths and How to Harness Them in Higher Education

  • May 12, 2021
  • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (CDT)
  • Virtual

NACADA and The Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) have collaborated to provide a free web event on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 1:00 pm CDT.

Panelists of Exploring Student Veterans' Perceptions of their Strengths and How to Harness Them in Higher Education will discuss empirical research on student veterans’ self-reported strengths—which include communication, diversity management, leadership, and drive—and how these strengths positively affect self-efficacy and motivation in their academic performances.

While acknowledging the challenges student veterans may face as they transition from military to university cultures is important, the panelists argue that a balanced approach to communication about student veterans in which strengths are included is necessary. This webinar will consist of advocacy and advice for ways higher education institutions can communicate support around student veterans’ strengths.
