The 2018 ACHE West Regional Conference will be held at the Brigham Young University Salt Lake Center located at 345 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84180-1203. The conference will begin at Noon on Wednesday, February 21st and end at Noon on Friday, February 24th.

Meet our Officers

Alex Read
Program Manager
Sacramento State University

Alex Read develops, designs, implements, and delivers professional development programs for the College of Continuing Education at Sacramento State. He is responsible for a portfolio of certificate and customized contract training programs. In a leadership role with the organization, Alex creates a team environment that fosters collaboration and growth of the department. In addition to these responsibilities, Alex assists in operationalizing our strategic plans to meet the goals and objectives of the university.

Michael Patton
Pacific Oaks

Michael Patton has several years’ experience in sales operations, leadership, management, and measurable success in increase of employee performance and professional employee development.


Steve Christensen
Financial Manager
Brigham Young University

Steven S. Christensen started as a financial manager for Brigham Young University Division of Continuing Education in August 2010.  Four five years prior, he worked as a tax accountant for various public accounting firms.  Steve received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Utah University and his Master’s degree in accounting from the University of Phoenix, online.  He is also currently working on a second Master’s degree in Instructional Psychology and Technology at Brigham Young University.  Steve was born in Blanding, Utah and has lived in Madison, Indiana; Lexington, Kentucky; and Cedar City, Utah.  He is married to Mandy Jo Welsh from Madison, Indiana.  They have four children and currently live in Orem, Utah.

Melanie Mitchell
Oregon State

Melanie is the Director of Executive and Professional Education at Oregon State University's College of Business. Melanie works to engage businesses with the college and specifically with companies to develop and deliver custom employee training solutions that address their most pressing challenges.

Deirdre Thomas
Assistant Dean of Professional and Continuing Education
California State University, San Bernardino

Deirdre Thomas is the Assistant Dean of Professional and Continuing Education at California State University, San Bernardino. In this role, Deirdre provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of various programs, including degrees, credit and non-credit certificates, summer session, personal enrichment, middle and high school programs, customized training and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the Palm Desert Campus. Prior to joining CSUSB, Deirdre was a Senior Vice President for Cambridge Integrated Services and had served in the insurance industry for more than 26 years with oversight of multiple operations in multi-jurisdictions performing risk management and claims administration for large employers.

A native of San Bernardino, she is passionate about reducing income inequality and increasing educational and economic opportunities within San Bernardino County. Deirdre’s professional accomplishments are complemented by her dedication to community service. She currently serves as a Commissioner for the County of San Bernardino Equal Opportunity Commission, is a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster youth, is Past President of Lion’s Club, and is a member and past 1 st Vice President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Deirdre holds a Masters’ in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific and a Bachelors’ in Business Administration and Management from the University of Redlands.

Regina Cash
Director of Academic and Professional Programs
California State University, Long Beach 

Regina Cash is the Director of Academic and Professional Programs for the College of Continuing and Professional Education at California State University, Long Beach. Ms. Cash oversees all the credit and noncredit programming for the college, as well as business development and corporate education. Ms. Cash is a Certified Workforce Development Professional through the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals and has over 20 years of experience in this field.

Suzanne Williams
Dean, Weekend/Evening College
Mount Saint Mary's University

Suzanne Williams is the Dean of Weekend/Evening College at Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles. Her undergraduate degree is from a small private female liberal arts college, Converse College, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I graduated from Converse with my BA in Comprehensive Special Education. I had about 25 more credits than I needed to graduate because of my eclectic loves of education, political science, and psychology. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill School of Social Work with an emphasis on individual, couple, group work and family systems therapy. I maintain licenses in Clinical Social work (LCSW) and Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT). I did post-graduate school education at UNC-Chapel Hill in women's leadership in higher education administration.

Valerie Delleville
Council for Adult and Experiental Learning

Dr. Valerie Delleville currently serves as Director for Higher Education at the Council for Adult & Experiential Learning. In this role, she leads institutions of higher education working with CAEL to establish, implement, and enhance programs and services that maximize their adult student performance and success. Valerie has nearly 20 years of experience in higher education spanning across training, teaching, enrollment management, strategic partnership development, online student retention, student services, research & evaluation, and prior learning assessment. She earned her Doctor of Education and M.S. in Higher Education from Drexel University, her MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management, and her dual B.S. in Psychology & Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
